Ultrasound Training and Experience

I graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the Faculty of Pisa in March 2008 and achieved my medical qualification in July of the same year.

In July 2011, I obtained my first university degree, the Master's Degree in Diagnostics with Ultrasound in Surgery, at the University of Pisa, Department of Oncology, Transplants and New Technologies in Medicine, Division of General Surgery and Transplants Cisanello (Director Prof. Franco Mosca, head of the school Prof. Giulio Di Candio), where thanks to the great experience and professionalism of Dr Alessandro Campatelli I approached and became passionate about this diagnostic method.

Subsequently, in February 2012, I achieved the National Diploma of Clinical Ultrasound S.I.U.M.B. (Italian Society of Ultrasonography in Medicine and Biology). Since March 2012, I have been practicing as a clinical ultrasound technician affiliated with the ItalianNHS at the Ultramicro medical analysis and diagnostic laboratory in Montecatini Terme (branch director Dr Narcetti Stefano).

In February 2013, I got my second university degree, the Master's Degree in Interventional Ultrasound at the University of Pisa (2011-2012), Department of Oncology, Transplants and New Technologies in Medicine, Division of General Surgery and Transplants Cisanello (Director Prof. Franco Mosca, head of the school Prof. Giulio Di Candio), once again under the expert guidance of Dr Alessandro Campatelli.

At the end of 2013, I obtained the first of my S.I.U.M.B. diplomas in specialized ultrasound, the Diploma of Specialized Breast Ultrasound S.I.U.M.B. with a practical and theoretical internship carried out at the S.I.U.M.B. School in Marche (Coordinator Prof. Paolo Busilacchi), in the Breast Unit of the diagnostic department of the Principe di Senigallia Hospital (Ancona), at the time directed by Dr Giovanni Consalvo, where Dr Teresa Abbatista approached me to the difficult art of breast ultrasounds and provided the technical knowledge for the interpretation of mammograms.

In December 2015, I obtained the Diploma in Specific Training in General Medicine, obtained with the Specific Training Course in General Medicine in Florence; during the three-year training in the context of the practical internship in Internal Medicine at the Department of Medicine 1 at the SS. Cosma and Damiano di Pescia Hospital directed by Dr Grazia Panigada, I was able to attend the Diagnostic Imaging Operating Unit, where I followed with particular interest the ultrasound technique by expert Dr Daniele Varanini, who encouraged me even more to follow my internal ultrasound vocation, and the Endocrinology Operating Unit directed by Dr Maurizio Checchi, expert diagnostician and thyroid therapist.

Since January 2016, I have started to practice privately in private centres, located in Montecatini Terme and Pistoia. Meanwhile, my main activity was carried out at the Ultramicro offices in Montecatini Terme, no longer affiliated with the Italian NHS, and thus acquired a new name - Studi Medici S.R.L.. Since June 2016 I have been registered in the S.I.U.M.B. Register of Sonographers.

In February 2018, I obtained my second S.I.U.M.B. diploma as Ultrasound Specialist in Endocrinological Ultrasound S.I.U.M.B., with practical and theoretical internship carried out at the School S.I.U.M.B. of the Department of Endocrinological Surgery, Ospedale del Mare hospital in Naples (Director and head of the school Prof. Stefano Spiezia).

In February 2018 as well, I obtained my third S.I.U.M.B. diploma as Ultrasound Specialist in Skeletal Muscle Ultrasound S.I.U.M.B., with practical and theoretical internship carried out at the S.I.U.M.B. school of the Ospedale Maggiore hospital in Bologna (Director and head of the school Prof. Stefano Galletti).

In October 2018, I obtained my fourth S.I.U.M.B. diploma as Ultrasound Specialist in Contrast Ultrasound S.I.U.M.B., with practical and theoretical internship carried out at the SIUMB School of the Department of Radio-diagnostics at the G.B. Rossi University Polyclinic in Verona (Director and head of the school Prof. Mirko D’Onofrio).

In December 2018, I obtained my third university degree, the Second Level University Master's Degree in "Clinical Ultrasound and Applications in Nephrology" a.a.2017-2018 ed. IX , at the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna Pisa, in the context of the specialized school S.I.U.M.B. for practical training in ultrasound and colour doppler in nephrology (Pisa offices, coordinator prof. Mario Meola), discussing the thesis: "Small iso\ iperechogenic renal lesions: an ultrasound dilemma" (Speakers: Prof. Mario Meola, Dr Ilaria Petrucci). This fantastic experience has greatly enriched my knowledge of internal ultrasound, associating it with my essential clinical experience with both Professor Mario Meola and Dr Ilaria Petrucci.

In February 2019, I obtained my fifth S.I.U.M.B. diploma as ultrasound specialist, the Diploma of Interventional Ultrasound Specialist S.I.U.M.B., concluding the long path started in 2013 at the Department of Oncology, Transplants and New Technologies in Medicine, Division of General Surgery and Transplants Cisanello.

In February 2020, I obtained my sixth S.I.U.M.B. diploma as ultrasound specialist, the Diploma of Ultrasound Specialist in Nephrology S.I.U.M.B., concluding the Master's Degree training course at the Scuola Supriore Sant'Anna in Pisa.
